Hey, wanted to share a resource with you that might help you figure out how to build your software factory.
Lots of companies are building software factories but there are a handful that are also sharing their process. So we decided put them all in one place.
Inside the Software Factory is a new index of how engineering teams at companies like DoorDash, Ramp, Shopify, Snap, Stripe, Uber, WorkOS and Zalando are building their software factories.
For each one, we wrote about:
What they set out to solve
How their software factory works
The teams, roles, and skills behind it
How it evolved over time
How they measure it
Lessons learned
Then we asked: What is common across these software factory builds?
So we wrote about those patterns too, like MCP gateways, model routers, quality gates, spend controls and agent identity, plus what to look for when you’re choosing each one.
I’ll be posting updates about companies we cover here, so be sure to subscribe if you want to read them first.
Hope you find this resource useful!
